It's Apple Blossom Time

The 79th Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival has officially began. Last night the opening was held in Annapolis Royal and there are many more great events coming up this weekend.

This long running festival is great at promoting the agricultural industry here in the Valley while providing a family event that everyone can enjoy.

Apple BlossomsThere are some of the usual mainstay events like the Grand Street Parade, the Childrens Parade, and the fireworks. This year there are new events and attractions that should be great successes.

Passport to the Valley will be held on Saturday, this will have all the communities in one place showcasing all the valley has to offer. People can get their passports marked at each place to win prizes.

Something new that that would be really cool to do would be to take one of the hellicopter rides leaving Memorial Park in Kentville throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. The cost is $55 per person but having taken a flight over the Valley in the fall I think this would be well worth the price to see the Annapolis Valley from that height this time of year.

In cooperation with Deep Roots Music there is a blues concert Saturday night featuring very talented artists Matt Anderson, The Hupman Brothers, and Jens Jeppesen.

Also some exciting news that just came out shortly ago is that some of the honourary parade marshals this year will be Sheri Elwood & Jason Preistley who are the creator & star of the show Call Me Fitz. This is a great show which was filmed in New Minas and other parts of the Valley.

All that said, the Apple Blossom Festival is one of my favourite times of the year. Not only is there lots going on but it always makes a great opportunity for family and friends to get together.
