Each year the Annapolis Valley celebrates the Holiday's with many traditional events. Each community puts on their own series of annual events. Beginning mid November through to the New Year you can celebrate in a number of ways.
New Minas sets a new tradition this year with their "Celebration of Lights 2008". They will be hosting an evening parade of lights on November 22nd at 6:00pm followed by a spectacular fireworks display at the Lockhart & Ryan Memorial Park at 8:30pm. Due to bad weather during the original scheduled time, the parade of lights will now be held on November 29 starting at 5:00pm. The new date for the fireworks will be set later on, a tentative date will be December 3. Wondering how to occupy your family before the fireworks begin? Come visit Santa at the County Fair Mall once the parade is finished. There will be lots of tasty refreshments available at Centre Court.
Wolfville will be hosting their 34th Annual Acadia Christmas Craft Expo from November 21 - November 23rd. This event is one of the oldest events of its kind in Atlantic Canada. This year there will be over 150 artisians and craftspeople creating a very unique marketplace. This is hosted at the Acadia Arena in Wolfville.
On November 27th you can join the towns' people of Kentville as they gather for their annual Torchlight Parade and Christmas party. Once in the centre of town a huge treelighting will occur followed by a torchlight parade with a visit from Santa on your way to the skating party at the Kentville arena. There will be entertainment and some yummy hot apple cider. The parade begins at 6:15pm behind the Kentville Townhall.
Berwick combines old tradition with new during their Berwick Santa Claus Celebrations. On November 28th at 6:30pm the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Town Hall will begin. The lights go on at 7pm sharp! A new tradition begins on Saturday November 29th at 6:30pm with the Santa Claus Parade. It is sure to be a magical event of lights!
You can take your family to the "Santa Comes to Town" event on the evening of December 5th at the Kingston arena. There will be lots of family activities including skating, sleigh rides and a visit from Santa! Don't forget about the New Years Eve fireworks display in Kingston for everyone to enjoy!
